Never been to Dublin Dance Festival? Don't really know what it's all about? This is your chance to find out! On May 18th and 25th, join Dance Artist Ailish Claffey in learning more about contemporary dance, meet and learn from Australian choreographer Larissa McGowan and attend dance performances on playgrounds and with BMX bikes. We are delighted to announce that YAM.ie is now live and we welcome you to submit events to the site. This exciting new website maps out all arts and cultural events across Dublin made for and by 13 - 25 year olds. Register on the site to get regular updates or post events. It was funded through support from the Arts Council's Local Partnership Scheme.
The award - The Jim McNaughton Perpetual Award for Best Commissioning Practice - recognises the approach of the commissioners and their work with the Artist. Travelogue was also short listed for Best Creative Staff Engagement for the projects work with public transport providers. In Travelogue, artist Theresa Nanigian created an intimate portrait of the lives of those who work and travel on the public transport network of the Greater Dublin Area. The stories that emerged from this eight-month investigation were heart-warming, poignant and often hilarious. Travelogue was quite simply a celebration of the wit and humanity of the people of Travelogue is a Per Cent for Art project commissioned by the National Transport Authority, Dublin City Council and South Dublin, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and Fingal County Councils. The commission involved an intimate working relationship between the artist, the NTA, and the Arts Offices in the four Local Authorities. |
